The Trump Apocalypse – Day 4

In Uncategorized on November 12, 2016 at 11:20 am

I’ve been thinking about what I can do to make the outcome of this election less painful and to somehow help in the upcoming degradation of American society. I probably can’t make huge changes in the  federal government, at least not immediately, but I think I and everyone who sincerely believes in the golden rule can do things on a personal level to make this country and the world a better place. Here are a few ideas I’ve come up with initially. I’ll add to this list as I think of things or as people make great suggestions.

  • If you see something, say something: I know people  use this phrase to stop terrorism. I want to use it for the same reason. To stop domestic terrorists from harassing anyone whose only crime is living in this country. If you hear or see anyone telling someone to “go back to where they came from” please speak up. There are very few people that originally came from here. Everyone has a right to be here and be a part of this American melting pot.
  • Subscribe to your local newspaper:. We’re going to need a source of reliable news in the coming days. As we’ve seen in the lead up to the election, truth  and facts don’t seem to mean anything to our President-elect. I have no doubt that they will mean even less as he takes office. Cable news doesn’t really present news. Their main concern is ratings. They tend to present issues with false equivalencies that in no way helps people make a qualified decision about anything. Print news has done a good job as a watchdog. I for one will be obtaining online subscriptions to the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and the Washington Post. Join me in supporting our print news. They may be our only lifeline to the truth.
  • Be nice to one another:  I know that right now we’re all confused, hurt, and angry. Try not to take those feelings out on everyone else, even those who support the coming apocalypse.I know it’s hard, but we need to give in to our better angels and help people around us. Be more like Dr. King and Mahatma Gandhi. Be less like David Duke and the basket of deplorables.  It makes the world a better place.
