Unemployment: Day 4

In In My Opinion..., Uncategorized, Unemployment on July 15, 2011 at 7:07 pm

Wow, what a day. Today started with me waking again at 5:00 am (4th day in a row). Of course, this morning I did it on purpose. I was scheduled to clean out my office. I got up, got dressed, and headed for Culver City. It was all pretty easy, actually. I was met at the enterance and escorted by my friend Peter and Han to my desk where we spent the next hour laughing talking and packing. I now realized how much junk I had at my desk. I threw away a lot of old papers that were useful to me while I was working, but that would be useful to no one when I left. And I packed 7 smallish boxes with my books reference materials and toys. On a side note, I have quite the collection of McDonalds Happy Meal toys. It was actually a very nice experience. I got to talk to a few of my friends, and I zipped out of there before the majority of the staff was in the office, thus causing less disruption. Nice!

The rest of the day was equally exciting. Norm had a physical yesterday and went off this morning to get a blood test to finish it off. On the way home, he apparently ran over a bold of some sort because, by the time he got home, he had a flat tire. So we (when I say we, I mean he) called AAA, got the spare put on, and we headed over to the Tire store where we originally got the tires to fix or replace the flat. Turned out that it had to be replaced, but we added the replacement insurance so it only cost eleven bucks to replace. Phew!

Then, because we’re now both jobless and can now do this sort of thing, we headed off for the first day of the Orange County Fair! Today admission and parking are free from noon – 1pm so that worked out very well. Of course the money we spent on really cool vendor stuff probably makes up for the money we saved on admission. Still, it was worth it and fun. I think I’m beginning to like this unemployment thing. Oh, here’s a picture of Norm eating Fried Kool-aid. It was yummy. It sort of tasted like cherry donut holes.

  1. WOW–Sorry to hear that you are unemployed–but you are a very good writer. I think you should write about growing up with your brothers in LA…Sounds like a best seller to me….Whenever you two want to get away to hot steamy Vegas–let me know. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Reba! That would be an interesting book. Not sure anyone would read it though. We may head to Vegas as soon as it cools down a bit πŸ˜€
